Amici 2024-2025 Registration Form

Welcome to the Amici String Program! We are now accepting registrations for the 2024/2025 year.
We offer technique/ masterclasses and chamber music to string students. This year chamber music will be in person from 4:30-5:30pm or 6:30-7:30pm on Monday evenings. Technique/Masterclasses will be from 5:30-6:30 pm on Monday evenings. All classes are held at Bethany Chapel of Calgary, 3333 Richardson Way SW. Classes start September 23, 2024 to April 14, 2025.
Schedule
4:30 – 5:30 pm Chamber music
5:30 – 6:30 pm Technique/Masterclasses
6:30 – 7:30 pm Chamber music
Placement in classes will be at the discretion of the Artistic Director in consultation with the students’ private teacher. After the final registration deadline on September 01, you will be notified of your class times. Please be prepared to attend Amici during any two consecutive hours between 4:30 and 7:30pm on Monday nights. This allows for correct placement in masterclass and chamber music. Please note any time restrictions that are completely unavoidable on the form. Please understand that time constraints may make chamber music placement limited or impossible. No accommodation for student schedules will be considered after September 2nd, 2024
Entry level minimum requirements
Repertoire level of approximately RCM Grade 6; knowledge of at least one 3 octave scale; and well-established skills in shifting and vibrato.
Recitals
We host monthly Sunday recitals which are open to all Amici students at Bethany Chapel (3333 Richardson Road SW). The first recital for the 2024-2025 season will take place in October. Any non-Amici student may take part if they are playing at an RCM Grade 6 level and above. Recital registration takes place a week prior to each recital.
Accompanist Subsidy – Technique/Masterclass
Registration in Masterclass includes 4 hours rehearsal time with an Amici accompanist.
Annual Volunteer Bond
To keep registration fees affordable and to keep our program running smoothly, we count on each family volunteering over the course of each calendar year (October 1st – September 30th). Events include (but are not limited to) working at casinos, setting and clearing recital receptions, assisting at end of year events, assisting with lunches during summer camps, assisting with fund raising events, and participating on the Amici Board. Additional opportunities often occur. Emails are sent out as volunteers are required. Volunteers are selected on a first-come basis.
Amici String Program requires one $250 volunteer bond cheque from each family. Registration in the Amici Program assumes a commitment to fulfil volunteer requirement for the calendar year (October 01-September 30).
A volunteer list will be maintained. Volunteer bond cheques will be destroyed after September 30, 2025 to those fulfilling this requirement; Families that choose not to fulfill their volunteer commitment will have their cheques deposited as a non-volunteer buyout.
All families are encouraged to volunteer at various Amici-related events throughout the year.
Masking
Amici is mask friendly environment. Regardless of any individual’s choice, all musicians will be treated with kindness and respect.
